London Fashion Weekend

On Friday I hotfooted it down to London to spend a day in the sun and in the stunning surroundings of Somerset House for the London Fashion Weekend.

Billed as London's premium designer shopping event, it certainly lived up to its expectations. There was a good mix of designer, vintage clothing a new and up coming designers selling goods with up to 60% off if you cant find anything to buy here, there is no hope! You were certainly spoilt for choice in the shopping department.
There was also a Richard Nicoll pop up shop where I managed to bag myself a lovely shirt for a bargain £30, I was very happy indeed.

With talks and demonstrations from the likes of Elizabeth Arden, Hilary Alexander and Premier Model Management if shopping isnt your thing there is still plenty for you to do.
I even managed to get my make up done by the Elizabeth Arden team totally free of charge which was a lovely unexpected treat.

Next up and what I was most looking forward to was the catwalk show. Hosted by Take Me Outs Zoe Hardman, who has the best hair ever!
The show was split into collections from both Holly Foulton (who also designed the fab free tote bag I got) and Antipodium. I really enjoyed both of these collections especially the lovely prints in Hollys collections.

And then there were 2 "looks" Prim Rose and Game On. Prim Rose was definitely very me, I loved the pastel colours, peter pan collars, lace dresses. All very Spring/Summer Louis Vuitton.

I'm not massively into the "sporty" look as i don't think its suits me but it was styled really well and had a look of Alexander Wang about it.

There was something for everyone in the show and was all totally wearable and I know it certainly gave me plenty of ideas.

I finished the day off with a glass of champagne and some people watching. Really what more could you want from a day out in London?

Mary Katrantzou @ LFW

With her recent sell out Topshop collection there was high anticipation for the Mary Katrantzou show. As you expect from her collections there were beautiful prints on sculptured dresses with flowing chiffon skirts. Her pieces are all like works of art, so beautiful. Do you wear it or hang them on your wall, if only I could own a piece and have to make this decision.

McQ @ LFW

An amazing first show from McQ, the second line from Alexander McQueen, certainly one of the best shows of London Fashion Week.
More military on show but with a feminine romantic edge with full skirted coats. The highlight for me was the full skirted dresses with velvet, lace and fantastic embroidered flower details.

Topshop Unique @ LFW

Photos from Elle.uk

This seemed to be a much more grown up collection from Topshop Unique. Topshop Unique's autumn winter offering was slick and adult. It had great coats; herringbone, double layer, shearling lined and hooded. It had great modern staples like mushroom leather baggy pants, heavy pleated kilts, velvet panelled jumpsuits and chunky heeled Chelsea boots. I am absolutely in love with the Velvet jumpsuit and dungarees, those are definately on my most wanted list and I'll be first in the que when they hit the stores.

Mulberry @ LFW

Forget the A star front row the stars of this show were the most certainly the clothes. Apparently inspired by Where the Wild Things are, there were massive bear like shaggy fur coats and gillets all given shape and tied in at the waist by skinny leather belts. There were also parka coats with fur lined hoods in a multicoloured print, with colours ranging from golden brown to dark burn oranges gave it a real autumn feel. A highlight for me was the orange lace and satin dress.

We've not even got to summer here yet but this show has definitely got my excited for next winter.

Saturday Strolling

Coat: TK Maxx, Dungarees: Cow Vintage, Satchel: Urban Outfitters, Hat: H&M, Boots: Topshop

Proper brunch food at The Lescar. I had smoked haddock with bubble and squeak and poached egg, lovely.
We then took a stroll down to the Pete McKee gallery. He has a new exhibition showing off the are from the various artists who took part in the recent Pub Scrawl event where different venues around Sheffield held artwork and shows by various artists, it was a good night and was good to be able to go to the gallery and see it all again under the one roof.

A lovely, perfect Saturday

House of Holland @ LFW

You can always rely on House of Holland to brighten up a Autumn/Winter season. The weather may be dull but there is certainly nothing dull about this collection.

From flared leggings and all in one jersey suits, to bright blue houndstooth dresses with leather sleeves and evening dresses in metallic greens, pinks a purples. My favorite piece has to be the short houndstooth dress with frilled collar. I can feel this is going to be a big hit for Mr Holland

PPQ @ LFW

There was much more of a grown up feel to the latest PPQ collection, think Wallis Simpson in tweed jackets, knee length velvet coat and dresses, clinched in at the waist with contrasting big collars.
